IO1: Multiproapp for coordinators

Multipro Webapp entails the first App ever designed for coordinators to launch, run, and assess multilingual programs.

MULTIPROAPP will allow, for instance, to calculate the level of the foreign language of students when they finish their degree, as the year language progress tests marks can be recorded in the database. It will also include a ready-made questionnaire for coordinators to ascertain whether there are enough human resources in order to launch a program, and a survey to know the students’ willingness to participate. It will clearly impact the quality assurance of these programs and the promotion of sharing these practices in the European network. MULTIPROAPP will be freely accessible, user friendly, and adjustable so that users can add features such as checklists, task lists, comments on specific proposed tasks, self-evaluation on digital skills, a personal journal to track progress.

If you are coordinating a bilingual program in Higher Education and would like to participate in the pilot testing stage now you are very welcome to register and start using the app, and provide us with any suggestion that make the app more usable and useful. Please, click on the link to register.

IO2: Augmented reality training app for lecturers and students

DIMPE will develop 6 AR (Augmented Reality) scenarios that will be pilot tested in three classes across participating organizations before being implemented to train 50 teachers and 300 students on salient cultural and linguistic values, pragmatics and communication. The aim is to develop scenarios that will promote communicative and intercultural competence, as well as promote acceptance and understanding. AR has been selected because it is immersive, engaging and merges real with virtual settings. The UNITY game engine and other software will be deployed for their development. Customizable training support will be provided to students and teachers to enhance the quality of
training offered by multilingual programs and students’ and teachers’ experiences.

First, both lecturers and students will be exposed to AR scenarios-driven needs. The AR scenarios will guide lecturers in adopting culturally relevant practices that draw on: (i) pedagogical, (ii) linguistic, (iii)cultural and (iv) paralinguistic constructs. Second, enhanced intercultural understandings and culturally relevant teaching techniques will help enhance the quality of multilingual programs, establish a better connection with students and guide students in transferring these practices outside the classroom context.

IO3: Digital flipbook for decision-makers for the development of the home language and culture for incoming exchange students

The direct target group of IO3 is then the responsible staff in the international offices, so that they have a wide range of ideas and actions to develop in their HEIs and also in the multilingual programs. IO3 is then indirectly targeted to exchange students traveling to universities in which the home language is not English. IO3 will consist of a policy recommendation repository of actions designed in a flipbook format that can be easily looked at and disseminated in the HEIs.

IO3 is innovative in the sense that it doesn’t exist a repository like this, let alone in a digital format, digitalized as a flipbook. It will impact the participating HEIs with resources at their disposal to promote their home language and culture, which will increase the internationalization profile of the institutions by integrating the exchange students and doing
multiple actions accordingly. Although the number and time are much smaller, also visiting scholars and teachers or administrative staff participating in the mobility program will also benefit.
